Brief History of the Church

The Country View Baptist Church was started in 1973 as a mission work and was organized in July of 1978 as an Independent Baptist Church. The church has had only three pastors in its forty-five years of ministry.

Bro. Berry, our current pastor, came to the church in February, 2017.

The church is located one-and-one-half miles north of Ulysses, Kansas. We are in the country and have a wonderful view of our town and surrounding area. It is our desire as a church to be a habitation of God through the Spirit.

Our Mission & Vision

The Mission of Country View Baptist Church is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all those who will hear the truth and respond to the message of salvation by grace through faith.  We are all about serving Jesus as a way of life.  We count it a privilege to be involved in the ministry of the Lord and to help people become more like Christ in their personal lives. Our church ministry is open and available to all.  You are welcome here.

WHO WE ARE:

We are an independent (not part of any convention, association or national organization), fundamental (believe the entire Bible literally), Baptist Church that exist for the purpose of taking the Gospel to every person the Lord leads us to in our community and around the world.  We are mission minded and seek to support independent Baptist missions who are sent out by local independent Baptist churches of like faith and order.

These Things We Hold True . . . . .

  • The Bible (KJV) is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God.
  • God is infinite, eternal, unchangeable and almighty.
  • Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God, the only hope of eternal life.
  • The Holy Spirit is our comforter, our guide and our teacher who indwells
    every believer.
  • Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as personal savior.
  • The Lord’s Second coming to earth will be personal, physical and before the seven year tribulation.
  • Heaven and hell are literal and eternal places: heaven for the saved, hell for the unsaved.
  • The church is a local visible body of scripturally baptized believers who have covenanted together to do God’s work.
  • Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are local church ordinances administered by the authority of a local Baptist church and are symbolic in nature.
